About Lester Prairie School District

Lester Prairie School District adheres to the mission “to develop every learner to the learner’s maximum potential to succeed and continue to learn in a changing world.”

Lester Prairie School District, has a staff that is second-to-none and we are continuously participating in Professional Development opportunities within our school walls and outside to improve the area’s best workforce.
Lester Prairie School District boasts excellent test scores in all age ranges, qualifying for recognition by the state as a Reward School, placing it in the top 15% of public schools in the state.  It has been nationally recognized by US News and World Report in the top 30% of all schools in the state. The graduation rate is constantly 10-15% higher than the state average.  Students are provided with small class sizes in the elementary, updated science and reading curriculum, along with the opportunity for technology use in a variety of mediums including Chrome Books, I-pads, Mac Computers, and Smart Boards.  School-wide programs such as PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) and Olweus Anti-Bullying Program have enhanced ownership and student safety within our school.  The safety and development of all people, especially the students, is of the utmost importance.

College level courses in Math, Science, and Language Arts anchor our educational system.  Planning for additional classes is being done for future school years.  Today, many schools have cut back or dropped their Tech Ed programs.  At Lester Prairie, not only do we support this program, it is flourishing and has increased community awareness so much that the Lester Prairie Foundation for Education recently raised nearly $10,000 toward the purchase of a plasma-cutting machine, capable of creating intricate designs in steel and wood.  We also recently received a collaboration grant generating $60,000 in new materials including another plasma cutter, sublimation printer, vinyl printer, and much, much more.

Extracurricular opportunities in Lester Prairie are as abundant as schools three to four times our size, and the opportunity to participate is much greater.  It is not uncommon for a student to be in 8-10 activities in the same school year, something larger schools are unable to provide.  Activity lists can be found on our LP website (lp.k12.mn.us).  If you have any questions regarding activities, you can call our Activities Director at 320-395-3005.

We invite you to explore our website: (WWW.LP.K12.MN.US), visit the school, and stop by to talk to us.  You will find we are committed to providing a family atmosphere that will enhance your student’s positive experiences in school.  Please call. We would love to talk with you and have your child be a part of the great atmosphere at the Lester Prairie Pubic Schools.
