ela2A Note from Ms. Smith

The past 3 months have been a whirlwind, and it’s time to go back to school.  I hope you had a wonderful break, and you were able to enjoy the time away from academics.

I look forward to teaching some familiar and new faces.  We will have a fun year giving speeches, writing fun essays (yes, they can be enjoyable!) and laughing with each other.

All my best.

About Ms. Smith

I grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota and graduated from Academy of Holy Angels in Richfield.  After high school, I attended Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall and received my bachelor’s degree in Literature and History.  In addition, I obtained a 7-12 licensure in Language Arts and Social Studies education.

This is my eighth year teaching English at Lester Prairie School, but I have taught for 23 years.  I have a diverse background in education, having taught middle school/high school English and Social Studies in Wisconsin, Arizona, and Minnesota. I have also tutored students with ACT preparation, writing, study skills, and even directed a play or two.

I enjoy spending time with my family who live in Arizona, baking delicious sweets and eating them, traveling across the country, and spending time with dear friends. I love to read, and I’m excited to share that passion with my students.  I feel lucky that I get to do what I love to do each day.

“Great books help you understand, and they help you feel understood.” – John Green
