SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE THICKNESS PLANER

1. Be familiar with the stopping mechanism of the machine.

2. Get into the habit of standing to one side of the machine when feeding the wood in.

3. As the machine takes the wood, LET GO. Do not follow work with hands.

4. The shortest board to be planed should be no shorter than 14’’.

5. When feeding short pieces, be careful. The rollers tend to tip the board end up when pulling it through.
You may get fingers pinched between the board and table.

6. If a board gets stuck , use the reverse or shut off and lower the table. Do not try to push it with your fingers or a large plank.

7. Examine the wood for any defects before running it through.

8. DO NOT SEND CROSS GRAIN THROUGH THE PLANER. PLANE WITH THE GRAIN ONLY.

9. If board sticks under the cutter head , shut off the machine and tell the instructor

10. Stock to planed to a thin dimension should be placed on a larger board.
