About Ms. Smith
I grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota and graduated from Academy of Holy Angels in Richfield. After high school, I attended Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall and received my bachelor's degree in Literature and History. In addition, I obtained a 7-12 licensure in Language Arts and Social Studies education.
This is my ninth year teaching English at Lester Prairie School, but I have taught for 24 years. I have a diverse background in education, having taught middle school/high school English and Social Studies in Wisconsin, Arizona, and Minnesota. I have also tutored students with ACT preparation, writing, study skills, and even directed a play or two.
When I'm not correcting essays, I try to read "fun books"; I love Colleen Hoover. Recently, I got back into running and am planning to participate in the Twin Cities 10k in September. I also like to kayak, canoe, and swim--basically, anything that involves water. During my downtime, I am usually baking sweets, grilling some kind of meat, or spending time with dear friends & family.
